This post is about the second track demo for the Modern Man concept album - The New New. I'm going to post a demo every month in 2021, and the full album will be released in december 2021.
For James Down, our 150 year old hero/anti-hero, the new gets old quickly. Countless trends has passed James by over the years - the fads come and go and reappear. The thrill of the new is just another stew, at least to James. It may just be that he has seen it all. It may be that the thrill of living has weared off. It may be the future just simply is a rehash of the past.
Until, one day. The sound of marching drums come closer, and closer, and closer until she appear, her intense gaze seeing straight through him as if he wasn't even there. This is New, she proclaims as she marches by, this is The New New.
What is this? James is intrigued. He has seen cults unite behind charismatic leaders before, and that seldom ends well, but this is something different. Or, dare he say it, something New?
