James has almost forgotten the time when the sun was a symbol of life, a source of joy, happiness and a summer tan.
After the Big Melt released all those megatons of methane, the the sun is still providing Earth as it always has. But there is no escape for the energy now, it's trapped. James spends most of his time the cool indoors anyway, courtesy by mini fusion-reactor powered AC (the grid is long gone). Outside it's all desert surrounded by oceans. Sometimes, though, when he wants to remember, he wanders out to the place where there was once a lush meadow. The place where he first met her. A cliché, he knows, but still. It's true.
